MALMÖ is where I grew up and hence a place I have a special bond to. I was raised in the outskirts during the 80s in an area kalled Kroksbäck in a time when cable-TV made its entrance and shaped our generation. Just next to our elementary school lies "Kullarna", a great green field with lots of steep hills. It was heaven on earth for any kid with a snow sled during winter. Back then Malmö, once home to the worlds biggest ship builder KOCKUMS was an industrial town on rapid economical decline.

Today Malmö is nothing like what it was back then and the left over docks from the ship builder have been reborn with a new purpose. Malmö has now an integrated infrastructure with Copenhagen nesting them together. Öresundsbron, Copenhagen Metro and City-tunneln in Malmö are all new modern solutions to efficient sustainable communication and transportation which arguably has expanded faster than any other region in Scandinavia.This alone makes the whole region very appealing from a civil engineering and community building point of view. What was done with Öresund bridge some 15 years ago has changed the whole region in ways no one managed to foresee.
